Roman shades are my favorite window treatment. They are the little black dress of window design, in that you can dress them up or down. They work in almost any room. They are beautiful when paired with a valance or stand-alone. They are great when using bold and dramatic prints or soft pretty fabrics. They are a source of function for privacy and sun-protection.  I construct my shades with screening wood and screw eyes for ease of function and durability.  They come secured with a short pull cleat that does not leave dangerous, long hanging cords.
