When Carole asked me to help decorate her new home, her first priority was a room for her granddaughter's Laurel Julia & Carys Reese. She had wonderful antique harp beds and linens meticulously sewn for these beds that had been pristinely preserved.
Carole knew she wanted bed crowns, and we shopped endlessly. We found some online and I decided that I would be able to make them instead. I enjoyed buying a new jigsaw and tried my first attempt working with bendable plywood. They came out exactly how we had hoped. I was able to find a beautiful complimentary embroidered silk fabric for the bed crowns and the windows.
I made a balloon shade to compliment the room. I hung the shade high to give height to the window and the room. I always try to "cheat" the window height when it needs it.
Carole's painter was solid booked so I painted the room and hung the chandelier. The color is Benjamin Moore's Misty Memories. I wish I had taken more before photos because this room is unrecognizable from where we started.
Her girls have come and put their stamp on the room with colorful accessories and I'll update my photos with their final touches.
